Every cultural expression by people from Melado relates to their "transhumance", that is, a reflection of a community in constant motion. For example, their craftswork is based on leather items from lassos, to saddlebags made from goat skin called prensiones, riding thigh straps, saddles and whips.
Their remoteness and scarce resources limit their purchasing power; thus, they have learnt how to manufacture their products from goatskin and other available material.
Women weave on their looms, manufacturing ponchos, and blankets which men use to protect their horses from the Andean cold, saddle implements, belts and straps from which knives and machetes hang.
