Their food is based on goat meat which they generally stick-BBQ. Goat meat soup is their favorite meal in the fall months. Goat cured and salted meat, sun dried and salted are consumed throughout the year, as it is healthy, long lasting and easy to transport.
These families also plant tobacco, they smoke hand-made cigarettes. Infusion mate is their preferred drink, which arrieros drink with boiling water. They hold their mate, herb, sugar and water thermos on a saddlebag called visiera to which they also add homemade brandy (aguardiente).
